57 service requests a day: what local community groups in Québec reveal
Over 16 full days of monitoring, Lynex spotted 920 real service requests in Québec’s local community groups: 57 a day, half of them within 5 minutes.
A market Google doesn’t see
When people think about “finding clients”, they think about Google, ads and quote platforms. Yet many people do something else: they post in their neighbourhood group. “Does anyone know a good plumber in Beloeil?” “Need an electrician this week in Laval.”
These requests are public, but no search engine indexes them. They are also short-lived: within a few hours they slide down the feed under dozens of other posts. For a contractor, it is a real market, and an almost invisible one. Here is what Lynex measured.
A daily flow, not luck
Every full day of monitoring produced between 34 and 85 real requests. The most recent days are the strongest: 61 to 85 requests a day in mid-October, as new groups are added.

One post in two is a real request
Over these 16 days, Lynex spotted 1,671 posts that looked like a need. 920 were real service requests (55%). The others were ads disguised as questions (“Looking for a roofer?”), job offers, items for sale, or the same request posted twice.
That is why every post is checked before it reaches a contractor: they get requests, not noise.
Spotted within minutes
Speed is the other half of the value. Half of the requests were spotted within 5 minutes of being posted, and 95% within 10 minutes.

All over Québec
The qualified requests came from 12 regions: Bas-Saint-Laurent, Capitale-Nationale, Centre-du-Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches, Estrie, Lanaudière, Laurentides, Laval, Mauricie, Montérégie, Montréal and Outaouais. This market is not limited to big cities: it exists wherever neighbours talk to each other.
Which services people ask for
Most requests are about everyday trades: plumbing, electrical, auto repair, snow removal, cleaning, general repairs, doors and windows, but also hairdressing, sewing and tutoring. These are concrete, often urgent needs, posted by people who prefer a local recommendation to an online search.
What it means for a contractor
- The volume is real. 57 requests a day on average is a steady flow of potential clients.
- Speed makes the difference. A request spotted within minutes still has few replies: whoever answers early has the edge.
- These clients don’t compare ten quotes. They ask their neighbours, and local trust weighs more than the lowest price.

Method
The figures cover the 16 full days between August 30 and October 16, 2026, meaning the days when Lynex monitored the groups at least from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with request checking active. Partial days (holidays, interruptions) are excluded so they don’t skew the average. Sources are about forty public local community groups in Québec. Every post was checked: a real service request, posted by a person or a business looking for a provider.
Frequently asked questions
Are requests posted in local groups real clients?
A little over half: over 16 days, 55% of the posts spotted were real service requests. The rest were ads, job offers, items for sale and duplicates. Lynex checks every post before sending it.
Where do these numbers come from?
From the 16 days when Lynex monitored about forty public local groups in Québec from morning to evening, between August 30 and October 16, 2026. Every post was checked before being counted.
Does Lynex contact clients on the contractor’s behalf?
Never. Lynex spots and qualifies requests, then sends them to the contractor. The contractor contacts the client, in their own words and at their own prices.
